Jason and Lucia — Character Backstories, Skills, and Best Playstyle

GTA 6 lets you swap between Jason and Lucia in almost every free-roam moment and in most missions. They are not skinned versions of the same character — they play very differently and reward different builds.

Jason — the veteran

Ex-military background gives Jason a permanent 15 percent recoil reduction and faster reloads on rifles and shotguns. Lean into long-range engagements and vehicular combat with him.

Lucia — the wildcard

Lucia starts with better melee and pistol skills, plus a unique 'Adrenaline' meter that fills during pursuits and unlocks bullet-time on demand. She is the mission-critical pick for any timed heist section.

Skill tree priorities

Both share the driving and stamina trees, so level those on whichever character you play more. Character-specific skill points should go into Jason's Firearms and Lucia's Adrenaline first.

When to swap mid-mission

Missions with a driving-to-shooting handoff usually let you swap at the vehicle exit. Drive as Jason for the pursuit, swap to Lucia for the on-foot section, and you clear most story missions on the first try.
